Illustrators' collective Drawn in Bristol presents a fantastic new exhibition in the Crypt @ St George's Bristol based on the theme of music. Come down for a lively opening night, featuring a FREE live performance by folk band Boxcar Aldous Huxley, plus the launch of Bristol Acoustic Music Festival and delicious food from the Real Olive Company.

‘High Notes / Low Notes’ features work by: Michelle Barker, Alex Bertram-Powell, Katy Christianson, Bex Glover, Jess of the Lions, Loch Ness and Laurie Stansfield.

Thanks to everyone who came down to Arnolfini to participate in the Big Draw on Sat 10 Oct! The day was a huge success, with some fantastic drawings and ideas on the theme of climate change. We'll be doing it all over again on Sat 31 Oct and it's FREE, so come along! I've seen the future...and it's chalk

I've recently been enlisted to produce the exhibition text and information in chalk on a blackboard wall at Arnolfini in Bristol. This led to another commission, recreating a chalk diagram by Roy Ascott for his exhibition 'After the Net (2.0)' at Peninsula Arts in Plymouth. Both projects were done by using an overhead projector to project the image onto the wall, then tracing over it in chalk. The effect has a really nice aesthetic, particularly with hard-edged digital text softened by the chalk outline. This could be a new direction for my work!

How to Start a Revolution - New Show

The new show from the 1LOVEART collective opens at Westbourne Studios on Sun 24 May with a gig by Some Velvet Morning to launch their new album 'How to Start a Revolution'.

The date has been moved from Sun 26 April due to last minute issues, with the result that it will now be held at Westbourne Studios instead of The Rag Factory as originally planned. However, Westbourne proved to be a great venue for the previous show, so should be even better this time!

With the first month of 2009 behind us already, I'd like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a belated Happy New Year. I've spent the last few weeks giving my website a much-needed overhaul, learning some new computer skills along the way, hence the delay. The basic look is still similar, but with a little more of a friendly, contemporary feel. Hopefully it's easier to navigate and echoes the style of my more recent work. In time (once I've learned a few more skills!) I intend to put some moving image on there too.

The Grain Barge

I spent last week painting the Grain Barge pub on Hotwell Road, Bristol along with several other illustrators including Dave Bain, Amy Timms and Rose Sanderson. The area I've been painting includes the door and stairwell leading to the top deck and some cheeky seagulls stencilled along the outside. Keep an eye out...

Pick up a bargain for Christmas at the Castle School's Festive Fivers exhibition! For one night only you can view the anonymously displayed artworks and purchase your favourite for a mere £5. There will also be an auction of acclaimed photographs by the Castle School's photography students.

All proceeds raised throughout the evening will be donated to Crisis, a charity that fights homelessness. Last year the exhibition raised £700 and this year they hope to raise even more, so please come down!

My next exhibition will be in the Bristol Art Show 08 at Centrespace Gallery, 6 Leonard Lane, Bristol, BS1 1EA. It will be open 11am - 6pm Saturday 6th September - 1st August, with a private view on Friday 5th August.
